As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a dog. There’s something very special about these creatures.
They love you completely. They live for you. All they want is to be loved in return. It does not matter if you have been on a week long vacation or stepped outside to get the mail; their reaction is the same once you return.
They can sense just what we are feeling and adjust themselves to us. Studies show that dogs help relieve depression. Of course they do! How can unconditional love not bring a smile to anyone’s face?
I had a dog once, her name was Boo. She was my constant companion when I was on morphine. She was a brilliant dog. She was my first dog as an adult that I had from puppyhood until her death. She warned me of upcoming pain spells. She was never trained. She just knew me. I had read about dogs warning owners ahead of time with seizures. I never doubted it for a second. But one warning of upcoming pain? But it happened and on more than one occasion.
Yes, I have had many dogs over the course of my life. Honestly, I cannot imagine my world without dogs and I don’t want to. They are without a doubt, a girl’s best friend.
