The Different Styles of Laughter

I cannot categorize my laugh. It varies per the situation. I can say I have a loud laugh and on occasion a snort accompanies it.

Roar

Laugh unrestrainedly

Snicker

A disrespectful laugh

Snort

Again, a disrespectful laugh (forgive me oh great Laughter Gods!)

Titter

A nervous restrained laugh

Guffaw

A burst of loud and hearty laughter

Haw-Haw

A loud horse sounding laugh

Hee-Haw

Same as Haw-Haw

Horselaugh

Repeat much? ^^^

Howl

An unrestrained laugh

Cackle

A laugh that sounds like a hen after laying an egg (ouch!)

Chortle

A soft, partly suppressed laugh

Chuckle

Giggle

A foolish or nervous laugh

Belly Laugh

A burst of deep laughter

Bray

Laugh loudly and harshly

Break Up

Laugh unrestrainedly

Cachinnation

Loud convulsive laugh

  1. Hee-Haaaaaw! This made me realise I don’t laugh anywhere near as much. I love laughs that come with a surprise snort. “Cachinnation”, is that a real word, or am I going to Google it and find some horror I can’t unsee? xx
