Food for Thought-Bon Appétit!

Archive 2013

Food for thought:

Everyone has had or has presently, someone in your life that makes you feel like, well, like a dog that has been beat too much. (metaphorically speaking)

Take heed! You cannot belittle someone on a regular basis and expect that their reaction will always be the same….no! They may grow tired of turning away and cowering and decide it is time to stand up and take a chunk of your ass with them! Bon appétit!

Jazzy the Con Artist

See this fluffy girl? Cute huh? Turns out she is a con artist. She acts as if she is unable to go up two steps to get back into the house. She’s done this since we moved here. So naturally I have been picking her up and carrying her inside every damn time she goes outside. She stops at the steps and looks at me and expects me to pick her up now.

Enter my daughter-guess who can run right up those steps? Mmm hmm. She’s got her Mom’s number. She’s lucky she is so damn cute.

She acts crippled for me but she is an olympic athlete for my daughter. WTH?

The Upside of Anger

Feeling anger is not always a bad thing. If someone crosses your boundaries you should feel some anger. That’s okay. What’s not okay is to hold that anger in and let it eat away at you. What’s not okay is tolerating disrespect.

I’m not saying throat punch or crotch kick this individual. (Though lets me honest, we’ve all thought about it!) No, I’m talking about harnessing your anger and productively addressing this individual with the issue at hand. If you do not do this, you are setting yourself up to be a doormat. Address the issue. If it continues, then you know this individual does not respect you.

Let’s face it, most people will take advantage if given the opportunity. It’s sad but it’s the truth. There are bad people in this world and then there are people. Everyone has crossed someone’s boundaries at one time or another.

If you don’t address it, then the behavior cannot be corrected. Once addressed one of two things will happen. The other person will change their behavior or they won’t. If not, that puts the ball back in your court.

Blessings!

Health Benefits of Cumin

I have been running all morning. Chiropractor, grocery and pharmacy. I am so happy to be home now, where it’s warm and comfy. I have a pot of chili cooking and cannot think of anything better on a cold Winter’s day. So I thought it appropriate to share the health benefits of Cumin. Have a blessed day!

Food for Thought-Solace

If someone has hurt you, don’t wish for Karma. Pray for solace so that you can move on.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a saint. It can be extremely difficult to practice what you preach at times. But one thing I have figured out is this- if you hold onto pain and anger, it poisons you. Let it go. It’s toxic. Carrying that kind of weight makes moving forward a much slower process.

Many blessings!

A Dog’s Thoughts

(2017 archives-after my Jazzy had a stroke)

Jazzy here. My Mom thinks she can mix wet dog food or salmon in with my rotisserie chicken and I will eat it. She’s so silly. Just put the chicken on the floor and nobody will get hurt.

She has now gone out and got me a liquid vitamin to make sure I am getting all the nutrients that I need. Pfft. All I need is some tasty chicken and I’m good.

I heard her on the phone and she has some more tricks up her sleeve. Trying to get me to eat other things. Why? Chicken chicken chicken! Do you hear me now?

Let the battle of wills begin! I’m a Chow Chow! Most stubborn creature known to man! I guess she didn’t get the memo.

The Benefits of Lavender Oil

I am sure you are aware of the calming effects Lavender oil provides. But it has so many benefits that most are not aware of.

It can be used much like Tea Tree Oil because of its antimicrobial properties.

Headaches, digestive issues, skin ailments are just some of the conditions Lavender oil can help with.

If You Could, Would You?

Question: If you could go back and change one thing in your life, what would it be?

Answer: NOTHING! I don’t believe it’s healthy to look back for too long. To dwell. To live with regret. Every single thing you have ever done or experienced, every little mistake or big mistake, every turn, every twist, every heartache has created the person that you are today. To take away any one moment in time would alter you. These things put you on your own personal path. Mistakes will be made. Failures are a given. Pain is a teacher. All we can do is the best we can and continue to learn each day. Fall down, get back up, dust yourself off and try again.

You can’t move forward if you are always looking back.

Many blessings.
